Kerala reports 13,773 new Covid-19 cases; 87 deaths

Kochi: Kerala continues to report surge in Covid cases as it confirmed 13,773 new covid positive cases on Thursday. The test positivity rate is 10.95  percent at present. 87 Covid deaths were also reported yesterday taking the death toll to 15,025. Bringing respite, 12,370 people recovered from the covid infection. At present, over 1 lakh people are undergoing covid treatment in the state.

Meanwhile, the mass covid testing campaigns have begun throughout the state.  An estimated covid test of over 3.75 lakh people will



be carried out by yesterday. 1.25 lakh people will be examined yesterday and 2.5 lakhs will be subjected to covid tests on Friday. Antigen and RT-PCR tests will be performed. The mass covid testing is expected to identify specific areas and clusters where the infection persists. 

The Department of Health has also released an augmented testing strategy to help diagnose infected persons and strengthen the precautionary measures against the pandemic throughout the state.
