India on Wednesday recorded 52,509 fresh coronavirus cases in last 24 hours, taking the tally in the country over 19-lakh mark.

With 857 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, the death toll in India neared 40,000-mark.

According to the fresh update from Union Health Ministry, the active cases in India now stood at 5,86,244. A total of 1,28,2215 people have so far recovered from the new coronavirus.

With 4866 fresh cases, Maharashtra remains the worst-affected state in the country with 1,42,458 active coronavirus cases. Till now, 2,99,356 people infected with the disease have recovered or been discharged from the hospital so far in the state. A total of 16,142 people have died so far in the state due to the new coronavirus.

Tamil Nadu registered 1,546 fresh cases, taking the state tally to 55,152. Till now, a total of 20,8784 people have recovered or been cured from the novel



coronavirus in the state.


Andhra Pradesh recorded a spike of 2,727 coronavirus cases on Wednesday. With this, the active cases in Andhra Pradesh stood at 79,104.

Delhi, which has seen a dip in fresh coronavirus cases, recorded 310 cases in the last 24 hours on Wednesday. With this, the active coronavirus cases in Delhi stood at 9,897. Till now, 4,033 people have died so far in Delhi due to the disease.

According to the Health Ministry data, there are 41,222 active cases in Uttar Pradesh and 22,315 actives cases in West Bengal.

In Assam, 1,887 people have tested positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of active cases in the state to 13,625. The death toll in the state due to the infection stood at 115.

There are 12,982 active coronavirus cases in Odisha and 24,483 people have recovered from the disease in the state.
