Global Covid caseload tops 510.1 mn

Washington: The global coronavirus caseload has topped 510.1 million, while the deaths have surged to more than 6.22 million and vaccinations to over 11.24 billion, according to the Johns Hopkins University.

In its latest update on Tuesday morning, the University’s Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) revealed that the current global caseload and the death toll stood at 510,191,435 and 6,220,536, respectively, while the total number of vaccine doses administered increased to 11,246,449,964.

The US continues to be the worst-hit country with the world’s highest number of cases and deaths at 81,042,367 and 991,572, respectively, according to the CSSE.

India



accounts for the second highest caseload at 43,060,086.

The other countries with over 10 million cases are Brazil (30,355,919) France (28,508,116), Germany (24,200,596), the UK (22,151,461), Russia (17,880,154), South Korea (17,009,865), Italy (16,161,339), Turkey (15,021,151), Spain (11,783,973) and Vietnam (10,563,502).

The nations with a death toll of over 100,000 are Brazil (662,964), India (522,223), Russia (367,521), Mexico (324,129), Peru (212,742), the UK (174,326), Italy (162,781), Indonesia (156,133), France (146,294), Iran (140,996), Colombia (139,780), Germany (134,185), Argentina (128,542), Poland (115,948), Spain (103,919) and South Africa (100,303).
