In Tamil Nadu, the total COVID-19 infection has gone up to over two lakh 85-thousand with 5880 new cases reported yesterday. The number of those discharged after recovery has surpassed two lakh 27thousand as nearly 6500 patients returned home after recovery in the last 24hours.

In a positive development, Chennai witnessed less than a thousand new cases of COVID-19, that is 984 people yesterday. This is the first time the city’s everyday tally went below the thousand mark after more than a month.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswamy has said the state will go for public transport only in a calibrated manner. In the COVID-19 review meeting held at Tirunelveli yesterday, he said though economic activities are being given the most possible thrust in the present situation, opening up of the public transport is a tricky area as human lives are more valuable.
