Mumbai: In a relief to the State health machinery, the daily Covid-19 deaths dropped further to 141 and the infections rose to 9,771 in Maharashtra on Wednesday, even as 10,353 patients were discharged after full recovery from various hospitals in the State.

A day after the state logged 231 and 8,085 infections, the daily deaths went down by 90, while the infections rose by 1,686.

Significantly enough, for the first time in two months, no “old and unaccounted” deaths are not being reported for the past two days. As a result, there was no reconciliation of the death figures.

With 141 deaths, the Covid-19 toll in the state jumped from 1,21,804 to 1,21,945.  Similarly, with 9771 fresh infections, the total infections in the State climbed from 60,51,633 to 60,61,404.

As 10,353 patients were discharged from the hospitals across the state after full recovery, the total number of people discharged from the hospitals since the second week of March last year increased from 58,09,548 to 58,19901.  The recovery rate in the state



rose from  96 per cent to 96.02 per cent.

The total “active cases” in the state dropped from 1,17,098 to 1,16,364. The fatality rate in the State dropped from 2.1 per cent to 2.01 per cent. 

Mumbai recorded 25 deaths and 705 infections. As a result, the Covid-19 toll in the metropolis increased from 15,426 to 15,451, while the infected cases in Mumbai went up from 7,21,516 to 7,22,222.

Pune with 17407 active cases emerged as the first in the state in terms of maximum number of “active cases” in the state, while Thane with 16115  stood second, followed by Mumbai (12574), Kolhapur (11444), Sangli (10233),  Satara (7541), Raigad (5385), Ratnagiri (5366) and Sindhudurg (4479).

Of the 4,16,37,950 samples sent to various laboratories across the state so far, 60,61,404 have tested positive (14.56 per cent) for Covid-19 until Wednesday.

Currently, 6,17,926 people are in home quarantine while 4,173 people are in institutional quarantine
