Kerala on Saturday reported the highest single-day spike in new cases of the novel coronavirus, second day in a row. As many as 42 fresh cases of infection were reported from the state on Friday, followed by 62 more cases on Saturday.
With this development, the state now has 275 active cases of Covid-19. Three patients also recovered from the infection between Friday night and Saturday evening,
pushing the total number of recoveries in Kerala to 515
Kerala Health Minister KK Shailaja Teacher told media outlets that the state now has 37 containment zones, with the addition of nine more hotspots on Saturday.
With infections rising in the state, around 91,084 people have been placed under surveillance and 90,416 of them have been directed to adhere to either home or institutional quarantine.
