In Tamil Nadu, the drop in the active Covid-19 caseload continues for several weeks. The latest by the state health department says the number of those now under treatment remains a little above 34-thousand. 3077 people were confirmed positive for the disease in the last 24-hours. The total infections in Tamil Nadu since the outbreak of the pandemic crossed a milestone of seven lakh yesterday.
 
However, the recoveries have been outnumbering the new infections since long. Important parameters like the active caseload also show a



sustained decline. Chennai continues to witness the maximum per day infections in the state, but the number remained under a thousand for the fourth day yesterday.
 
Meanwhile, the Chennai Metro Rail Limited has announced an increase in its train services duration from coming Tuesday for a limited period in view of the festive season. The extended working hours for commercial establishments, hotels and all kinds of shops in the state also came into force from yesterday.
