Andhra Pradesh has reported four COVID-19-related deaths and 12 infections since June 26, prompting health authorities to reiterate that cases remain sporadic and are not linked to any cluster.
The Andhra Pradesh Health Department on Thursday said four people with underlying health conditions have died after contracting COVID-19 between June 26 and July 16. Health Commissioner G Veerapandian said a total of 12 infections were recorded during the period, marking the state's
first reported COVID-19 cases of 2026.
According to the commissioner, all four patients who died had severe comorbidities, including hypertension, diabetes, renal ailments and other serious illnesses. Of the four fatalities, three were reported from Kadapa district and one from Kakinada.
The state's first COVID-19 case this year was detected in Kadapa on June 26. Between July 1 and July 16, 11 additional infections were reported, taking the total to 12.
