Yash's Toxic gets 17-minute shorter English cut, releases in theatres on September 4

The English version of Yash-starrer Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups is set to release in theatres on September 4 in India. The makers announced that the English cut, which was written and shot in one of the film’s languages, will have a runtime of 2 hours and 57 minutes, making it 17-minute shorter than the Indian-language cut. The English version had released overseas on August 26.

Sharing the update on X, the makers wrote, “Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, in English - one of the languages the film was written and shot in. A shorter cut from the Indian language version. In cinemas from September 4, 2026.”

The Indian-language theatrical cut currently has a runtime of 3 hours, 14 minutes and 12 seconds. This means the English cut is approximately 17 minutes shorter



than the version released in India.

Toxic has been met with largely negative reviews and has witnessed a downward trend at the box office since its opening day. The English cut also failed to make much of an impact in overseas markets. Now, the makers are looking to bring the shorter English cut to India, with the film set to release in select theatres.

The announcement has naturally sparked curiosity among audiences about what has been trimmed from the English-language cut. While the makers have not revealed which portions have been removed or shortened, unconfirmed reports suggest that songs including Tabaahi and Madhosh could have been among the cuts. However, there has been no official confirmation regarding the reported removal of these songs.
