Actor Yami Gautam has made a sincere request to the media to refrain from using AI to alter or enhance her photographs taken at public appearances. The actor urged organisations to use her pictures in their original form, stressing that AI should not be used to manipulate an individual's image or likeness without their knowledge and consent.
In a post on X, the National Award-winning actor wrote, “A sincere request to the media. Please refrain from using AI to alter or enhance my photographs from public appearances. Kindly use images in original form. Altering or manipulating an individual’s image or likeness using AI should not be done without their knowledge and consent. Thank
you in advance for respecting my request! (sic).”
Yami’s appeal comes amid growing concerns over the misuse of AI to manipulate images and videos of public figures without their consent. Several celebrities have been affected by such content, with a recent incident involving Janhvi Kapoor and Jr NTR drawing strong criticism from the film industry.
An AI-morphed, sexually explicit video featuring Janhvi Kapoor from the Devara: Part 1 song Chuttamalle has gone viral, prompting outrage. Jr NTR condemned the video, calling it “disgusting, sick and shameless”, while Chiranjeevi also spoke out against the misuse of AI to create degrading content targeting women.
