Veteran South actress Sowcar Janaki (94), who was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Chennai had died on Friday afternoon.
The news was confirmed by Nadigar Sangam President Nassar. “Legendary star Sowcar Janaki (94) passed away.
Her mortal remains will be placed at Centoph Road, Teyampet, from 5 PM,” read his statement. The senior actress, who was seen in the 1950 Telugu movie Shavukaru
(Sowcar) directed by LV Prasad, where she earned the title to her name, was undergoing treatment at Kauvery Hospital in the city.
According to reports, the actress was admitted around a week ago after developing respiratory problems. She had been receiving treatment at the hospital, but her condition became serious last night. Doctors then shifted her to the ICU and placed her on ventilator support, and she passed away at around 2 PM.
