The Andhra Pradesh Teachers Federation has raised strong objections against the movie Irumudi. Leaders Chennupati Manjula and Basavalingarao demanded the immediate removal of specific scenes.
They stated that these scenes portray government schools and teachers in a negative light. They argued that filmmakers must show social responsibility when depicting educational institutions.
The film features a female teacher character, played by Swasika Vijay, portrayed in a highly negative manner. The backdrop resembles a real government school in the Alluri Sitaramaraju
district. The students in the scene wear the official state government school uniform.
At the time of writing, the makers haven't reacted to the controversy. It's likely that they will be asked to blur the name and location of the school by a court. The film co-stars Baby Nakshatra, Sai Kumar, Ramesh Indira, and Priya Bhavani Shankar.
Irumudi, meanwhile, is a box-office blockbuster. It has grossed almost Rs 100 crore at the box-office (as of the end of Day 4). Ravi Teja's biggest blockbuster it is. Director Shiva Nirvana and Mythri Movie Makers are on cloud nine.
