Spider-Man Brand New Day gets UA 13+ rating from CBFC; orders removal of kissing scene, abusive words

With Spider-Man: Brand New Day set to hit Indian cinemas this Thursday, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has cleared the film for release with a UA 13+ certificate. However, the superhero film will arrive with three censor-mandated modifications.

According to the CBFC, the board directed the makers to delete a romantic kissing scene, mute and remove strong words and objectionable language from the English audio and subtitle tracks, and add a static anti-liquor health warning during scenes depicting alcohol consumption.

Apart from these changes, the film has been cleared for theatrical release on July 30, without any major alterations to its storyline or action sequences.

Much of the



anticipation surrounding the film stems from the return of Tom Holland as Peter Parker and Zendaya as MJ. The latest instalment follows Peter as he navigates life after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, where his identity was erased from the memories of those closest to him. Forced to start over, Peter must balance his personal struggles while confronting a new threat.

The trailers have hinted at a darker, more grounded story, while retaining the franchise's signature mix of action, humour and emotional moments. Fans have also welcomed the film's return to a more street-level narrative following the multiverse spectacle of 'No Way Home'.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled to release in Indian theatres on Thursday.
