Director Aditya Dhar?s Dhurandhar: The Revenge, featuring Ranveer Singh, has drawn attention on OTT after its international release on May 14. A content creator has claimed that the film has climbed to the No 1 trending spot on Netflix in Pakistan, where it has generated strong interest.
The claim was made by content creator Maviya Umer Farooqui, who also said the response to the film briefly caused Netflix servers in Pakistan to crash because of a sudden surge in traffic. In a video, he showed the film repeatedly pausing and buffering while he tried to play it, and said the issue was not caused by his internet connection as his Wi-Fi was working properly.
In the clip, Farooqui said the film had released in Pakistan that day and that viewers had
been waiting for midnight for Netflix to release it so they could all click on it at the same time. He said that reflected the level of interest around Dhurandhar in the country.
Farooqui also said that questions over whether the film showed the truth or not were separate, but people in Pakistan wanted to see how the film had been made. Referring to Ranveer Singh?s character, he said people were already aware of what it was about, while whether anything like it had actually happened in Lyari could be discussed later.
The content creator later shared another video on Instagram in which he said Dhurandhar: The Revenge had reached the No 1 trending position on Netflix in Pakistan, underlining the buzz around the film across the border.
