Sun Pictures has officially announced the release date of Jailer 2, confirming that the Rajinikanth-starrer will arrive in cinemas in October. The production banner shared the news through a brief teaser on its social media platforms, putting an end to months of speculation surrounding the sequel's theatrical release.
The film will take a Thursday release slot on October 15, to coincide with the festive season, a move expected to maximise footfall across the extended weekend. Along with its domestic rollout, Jailer 2 is also set for a wide international release, where Rajinikanth's films continue to enjoy a strong fan following.
The sequel
is set to raise the stakes with a significantly expanded ensemble cast. Mohanlal and Shiva Rajkumar are expected to reprise their cameo appearances, while the makers have brought in several prominent names from Hindi cinema to widen the film's reach across regional markets.
Joining the franchise are Mithun Chakraborty, Vidya Balan and Hrithik Roshan in key roles, although the makers have not yet revealed details about their characters.
With Rajinikanth once again leading the action, a successful creative team returning and a festive release window locked in, Jailer 2 is shaping up to be one of the biggest Tamil cinema releases of the year.
