Superstar Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 has cleared a key hurdle ahead of its October 15 theatrical release. Director Nelson Dilipkumar’s action entertainer has reportedly been certified U/A 16+ by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), with its final runtime less than three hours. The makers are yet to announce the film's certification and runtime.
According to the certification details circulating on social media, Jailer 2 has a certified length of 165 minutes and 18 seconds.
That makes the sequel only around three minutes shorter than the 2023 blockbuster Jailer, which had a runtime of approximately 168 minutes.
The runtime places Jailer 2 firmly in the long-format commercial entertainer space, with Nelson returning to the world of Muthuvel Pandian for a sequel that expands the franchise with a larger ensemble and new characters.
The U/A 16+ certification also comes ahead of the film’s much-awaited theatrical release next week.
