Stand-up comedian Pranit More has issued a public apology following massive social media outrage over a viral video featuring a misogynistic remark made by an audience member. The controversy erupted when a clip from a comedy show surfaced, showing an attendee making a derogatory comment about expecting sexual favours after buying a meal, widely referred to as the biryani remark.
The comedian faced severe backlash for not objecting to the comments and instead participating in the conversation. In a recently posted video, the comedian admitted to making a lapse
in judgment and getting carried away during the performance.
The incident has triggered significant legal trouble, with multiple First Information Reports registered by cyber cell authorities in Delhi, Gurgaon, and Mumbai. Summons have been issued to those involved, including a medical student facing a separate institutional inquiry for related problematic remarks. The comedian has requested a second chance, stating full cooperation with the ongoing legal proceedings while acknowledging the mistake of providing a platform for such offensive content.
