Mumbai Police have launched a search for the sender of a threat email received at the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) office. A similar email was also sent to an American school in the city. Authorities clarified that veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan had not received any direct threat. His name, along with those of several other celebrities, was mentioned in the email.

The threat email also contained references to an issue concerning Punjab. Following the alerts, law enforcement and security teams searched both premises. Police confirmed that nothing suspicious was found

during the inspections.

Bachchan and his representatives have not yet issued a statement on the incident. The actor, who regularly updates his blog and X account, had announced on October 21 that he would be taking a few days off from social media. His post read, "T 5889,10,11,12 - apologies .. I beg your forgiveness; I've been advised to take some time off for a few days to rest and recuperate, so I'm not able to write anything..(sic)."

On October 23, he shared an update about his return to social media and wrote, "T 5893 - Let's go (sic)."
