Khushi Kapoor to lead Sridevi's Mom sequel, theatrical release set for November 2026

Actor Khushi Kapoor is set to headline Mom 2, the sequel to the 2017 thriller Mom, with a theatrical release slated for November 2026. Produced by her father, Boney Kapoor, the film was shot extensively in Noida and Greece.

According to a report in the Free Press Journal, the sequel closely connects Khushi to one of Sridevi's most celebrated performances. As Mom marked Sridevi’s final screen appearance, this project allows Khushi to carry forward a legacy deeply cherished by both her and her late mother.

Having debuted as Betty in Zoya Akhtar's The Archies, Khushi faced early setbacks following the cold reception of projects like Naadaaniyan and Loveyapa. Consequently, Mom 2 is being viewed as a defining turning point in her acting career.

According to the report, a source who viewed early footage praised Khushi's growth, highlighting a marked improvement in her performance as she brings



emotional depth to the thriller while displaying subtle shades of Sridevi.

The source added that the actor's dedicated portrayal showcases a more mature screen presence, potentially marking the beginning of a promising new phase in her career.

An earlier report also revealed that Mom 2 will also feature actor Karishma Tanna in a key role. Jisshu Sengupta also plays a pivotal character in the film. The thriller is directed by Girish Kohli.

Mom 2 will not be a direct continuation of the first film but will instead present a fresh story, as reported by Pinkvilla. The film intends to bring together suspense and high-stakes drama. It will keep its focus on strong female leads and the pursuit of justice in complex situations.

The original film was directed by Ravi Udyawar, earning Sridevi a posthumous National Award for Best Actress following her untimely demise in February 2018.
