The resolution recognises his role in taking Punjabi music to audiences around the world and promoting South Asian culture in mainstream American entertainment.
Diljit shared the moment with fans on Instagram, where he posted a video from the occasion. The honour was introduced by Los Angeles Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez and marked another milestone in the singer’s global journey.
Sharing the video, Diljit wrote, "Diljit Dosanjh day in LA, adding,
"The Los Angeles City Council has officially adopted a civic resolution declaring January 6, 2027, as 'Diljit Dosanjh Day'."
In the same post, he wrote, "Introduced by Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez, the resolution honours the Indian-born singer, actor, and producer for his significant contributions to globalising Punjabi music and promoting South Asian representation in mainstream American culture."
The clip showed Diljit receiving a framed resolution from a woman during a private gathering. Dressed in a white kurta and pink salwar with his signature turban, he appeared emotional and folded his hands in gratitude.
