Haryanvi singer Ankit Balyan shot dead, family blocks road in UP's Shamli district

Haryanvi singer and YouTuber Ankit Balyan was shot dead by unidentified assailants outside a gym in Uttar Pradesh's Shamli on Wednesday evening, triggering intense protests by his family and local villagers who blocked the Delhi-Muzaffarnagar Road demanding immediate action. Police are currently scanning nearby CCTV footage to identify the attackers and determine the motive behind the killing.

The attackers opened fire on Baliyan as he was stepping out of the gym in the Shamli Kotwali police station area. He sustained severe bullet injuries in the sudden attack and collapsed at the scene.

Upon receiving information about the firing, a police team arrived at the spot and rushed the critically injured singer to a nearby hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

The news of his murder triggered



widespread panic across the area. Police have launched an investigation and are reviewing footage from CCTV cameras installed near the crime scene to identify the assailants and ascertain the motive behind the killing.

Senior police officials mentioned that the exact cause of the murder will be confirmed only after a detailed probe.

Following the murder of Ankit Baliyan, family members and villagers placed his body on the road and staged a protest, blocking traffic. Demonstrators stated that the roadblock would not be lifted until the killers were arrested, adding that the last rites would only be performed after the culprits were apprehended. Superintendent of Police (SP) NP Singh stated that multiple police teams have been formed to trace the attackers, and authorities are also probing potential rivalry related to the upcoming Panchayat elections.
