KGF star Yash has found himself at the centre of a box office tussle after the team behind Dhurandhar: The Revenge announced their film’s release on the same date as his upcoming project, Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups. The clash is set for Eid 2026, a high-traffic window, with both productions aiming for big returns.

Yash had declared his film’s release date as March 19, well in advance, which has now become a point of contention as the producers of Dhurandhar: The Revenge did not inform him before selecting the same slot. Reports had circulated about the possibility of Toxic shifting its release, but these were quickly denied by those close to Yash.

According to Variety India, a source stated, "Yash is not operating on ego, contrary to what many might think," clarifying that the decision to keep the release date is rooted in strategy rather than pride. The source added, "Yash is a very good businessman. If he had felt threatened by Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ he would have maybe considered postponing it. But he has immense confidence in the film’s content and is banking on a long-term theatrical run rather than just an opening weekend."

The source further explained the context behind Toxic’s release plans. "Toxic was officially announced three years back in December 2023. His fans have since been waiting to see him on screen. Yash doesn’t want to back off and disappoint his fans." This long wait has given rise to

high expectations, particularly among Yash’s supporters, making the chosen date significant for the film’s momentum.

However, it has been revealed that Yash is upset that the Dhurandhar team did not reach out before announcing a direct clash. According to reports, Yash is believed to be irked that the makers of Dhurandhar: The Revenge did not inform him about their Eid release plan, knowing full well they had blocked the date last year. The lack of communication has highlighted differences in industry practices between the southern and Hindi film sectors.

A source close to the matter elaborated, "Toxic announced its date in March last year. If Dhurandhar: The Revenge was coming on that date, they should have at least given him a courtesy call. Yash feels the Hindi film industry doesn't have that culture of communication that is common in the southern industries," suggesting that mutual respect and openness are more prevalent in the southern film markets.

As both Toxic and Dhurandhar: The Revenge prepare to compete for a strong box office opening, the Eid 2026 weekend is now set for a closely watched contest. Early indications suggest that Dhurandhar: The Revenge has generated more buzz in the Hindi-speaking regions, while Yash continues to enjoy strong support in southern markets. The battle for audience attention is already underway, with both sides pushing their promotional activities in the lead-up to release.
