The Women’s Commission has taken serious note of comments made by Telugu actor Sivaji and has issued a notice directing him to appear in person before the panel on December 27, 2025.

A section of the notice read, "The above-said statement appears to he derogatory to the women in general and more particularly the women of Telangana having found the prima-facie you have made a such a statement deliberately with an intention to defame the women in the society. As such this commission

has taken suo-moto cognizance and accordingly decided to conduct an enquiry under section 16 (1) (b) of The Telangana Women's commission Act 1998 (sic)."

The action follows remarks Sivaji made during the pre-release event of the film Dhandora, where he addressed the female anchor on stage by commenting on her saree. He then extended his remarks to women actors in general, urging them to dress “conservatively” and discouraging the use of what he termed revealing outfits.
