The Kerala Story 2 has received a U/A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), the film’s director confirmed in an interview with India Today.

Responding to criticism from Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, director Kamakhya Narayan Singh expressed gratitude to the board for what he described as a timely decision.

When asked about the politics surrounding the film's release, producer Vipul Shah said, "We assumed that this might come. But after the first film, people started talking about this kind of a problem in a society. This is

a controversy which is spreading right now in the whole country. We need to talk about it. We cannot be scared and sitting at home."

"I am a documentary filmmaker and this is my second feature film. I feel cinema is a tool for communication. We are communicating the truth to the society and it's very important our society knows about it and there's a conspiracy to change the demography of our nation. They are using our daughters, sisters -- they are not safe, we should know about, they should know about it, our sisters, daughters should know about it," he further said.
