Veteran filmmaker Harish Shah passes away at 76

Veteran filmmaker Harish Shah died at the age of 76 in Mumbai on Tuesday morning. He had been battling throat cancer for a couple of years.

Confirming the tragic news, the late filmmaker's brother, Vinod Shah, told PTI that he (Harish Shah) had been battling throat cancer for the past ten years. He further added that the filmmaker died at 6 am.

Last rites of the producer-director were held at Pawan Hans crematorium on Tuesday afternoon. Due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, the funeral was attended by close



family members only.

Harish Shah produced and directed a number of Bollywood films in his career. Some of the flms produced by him include Rajesh Khanna's Mere Jeevan Sathi and Ram Tere Kitne Naam.

He directed films like Dharmendra and Shatrughan Sinha-starrer Zalzala (1988) and Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh-starrer 1980 film Dhan Daulat.

Sunny Deol's Jaal the Trap remains Harish Shah's last Bollywood production. The film released in 2003 and also starred Tabu, Reema Sen and Anupam Kher.
