'Shirdi Ke Sai Baba' (1976) fame Sudheer Dalvi is presently hospitalised, suffering from life-threatening complications caused by sepsis. The 86-year-old is in Lilavati Hospital since the first week of October, with his family is struggling with rising medical expenses.

They have already paid close to Rs 10 lakh and doctors have mentioned that the expenses could go up to Rs 15 lakh. Sudheer’s family has thus reached out to the film fraternity and his fans, to aide them in this time of need.

Sudheer’s wife Suhas Dalvi exclusively told India Today that on the evening of October 8, while watching television, he suffered a sudden bout of extreme pain, post which he lost mobility of all his limbs. They rushed him to the hospital where he was put in the ICU, and tests were conducted.

“That’s when we got to know it was a sepsis infection, which has affected all his joints. And since the infection is now in his blood, the recovery has been extremely slow. We never

anticipated something like this to happen with us and thus it’s emotionally and financially a tough time,” she said.

Suhas, who is also 81 years old, added that she is asthmatic and hence, doctors have asked her not to visit her husband in the hospital to avoid any infection. The caretaker has been clicking photos and sharing updates with her. She mentioned how her son, who lives in Canada, helped them, but there is a big amount that they need to raise.

She said, “We are like any middle class family who has limited savings. Unlike government employees who get pension, actors have no such benefits. So, I would still request everyone to come forward and help us in any way they can. Sudheer needs to be in the hospital for more time now.”

Suhas Dalvi added that slowly and steadily, people, especially from the industry, have come forward and send in money. In an emotional note, she mentioned how she felt she would lose her husband, her only companion, in just a moment.
