After facing many delays, 'Dhadak 2', starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri, has finally been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with a U/A certificate. But the film had to go through 16 major changes before getting approval.
Directed by Shazia Iqbal and produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, 'Dhadak 2' is the sequel to the 2018 film 'Dhadak', which launched Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter. The new film was announced last year and its motion poster was well-received by fans.
However, CBFC raised several concerns about the
content. One dialogue with a political hint was reworded to avoid linking it to any public figure. Caste-related terms were either muted or replaced with softer words to avoid hurting sentiments. A religious line was changed from “Dharam ka kaam hai” (this is religious work) to “Punya ka kaam hai” (this is a good deed).
Despite all these edits, the makers have tried to keep the soul of the film intact, according to the reports. 'Dhadak 2' tells a new love story while touching on deeper social issues. Now that the film has been cleared by the board, a release date for the film is awaited.
