Former Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officer Sameer Wankhede on Saturday gave out his first reaction on the lawsuit he has filed against the Netflix series ‘The B**ds of Bollywood’, directed by Aryan Khan. When approached by the media, Wankhede simply said, “I don’t want to comment on this. I will just say one thing — 'Satyamev Jayate' (Truth alone triumphs)."
Wankhede made news in 2021 after he arrested Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan for alleged drug possession, consumption and trafficking. Aryan Khan was later granted bail after spending three weeks in jail.
The ‘B**ds of Bollywood’ is directed by Aryan Khan and produced by Red Chillies Entertainment, a company owned by his parents, Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri
Khan.
In his lawsuit, Wankhede alleges that the series damages his reputation and seeks Rs 2 crore in damages, which he says will be donated to Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital.
The lawsuit also objects to a scene where a character raises the middle finger right after saying the national slogan, “Satyamev Jayate.” Wankhede said that this act breaks the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971 and is punishable by law.
Additionally, the plea alleged that the series was intentionally created and produced to damage Mr. Wankhede's reputation in a misleading and biased way, particularly while the legal case involving him and Aryan Khan remains pending before the Bombay High Court and the NDPS Special Court in Mumbai.
