Sanjay Leela Bhansali announces new release date for Love and War

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love and War is now set to release in January 2027. The makers made the announcement on Friday, ending the long wait for fans. The emotional saga, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal and Alia Bhatt, will hit theatres as a Republic Day release on January 21, 2027.

The film was earlier slated for a big summer release this year. While the makers have not revealed the reason for



the postponement, several media reports suggest that multiple changes to the storyline and extensive post-production work contributed to the delay.

Love and War also marks Ranbir and Alia’s return to the big screen after their 2022 action-fantasy, Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva. It is Bhansali's first directorial since the success of Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022), which also starred Alia.
