Samantha Ruth Prabhu is all set to make a much-anticipated return to Telugu cinema with a lead role in a new-age social drama directed by Nandini Reddy. The project, which will be backed by Samantha’s production banner Tralala Moving Pictures, marks a significant shift in the actor’s career as she moves back to Telugu-language films after focusing largely on Hindi projects in recent times.
The film is reportedly being made on a tight budget, with pre-production activities already progressing at a brisk pace. Sources close to the development say an official announcement will be made shortly. Samantha was last seen in a full-fledged Telugu role in 2023’s ‘Kushi’ opposite Vijay Deverakonda. Since then, she has only made a cameo appearance in the horror-comedy ‘Subham’, which was her maiden venture as a
producer under Tralala Moving Pictures. The film was a commercial success and is currently available for streaming.
This upcoming project will reunite Samantha with director Nandini Reddy, known for their earlier collaborations in ‘Jabardasth’ and the 2019 hit ‘Oh Baby’. Reddy had recently quashed rumours about the project, calling them premature. However, it is now confirmed that the film is indeed in development and moving forward.
Samantha, who has been selective about her Telugu scripts lately, has also appeared in Hindi web series such as 'Citadel: Honey Bunny', which failed to make a strong impact. She is currently working on ‘Rakt Brahmand: The Bloody Kingdom’ with Raj and DK. Reportedly, the shoot is progressing in carefully planned phases, and the release date is yet to be finalised.
