In the wake of the tragic Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad, two major events in the entertainment world have been called off as a mark of respect. The launch of the Indian Supercross Racing League by Salman Khan and the trailer launch of Kannappa have now been cancelled in light of the incident.
The organisers of the Indian Supercross Racing League decided to cancel the event, a few hours after the accident. Eeshan Lokhande, founder of the Indian Supercross Racing League, issued a statement that read, "As we all have just heard the tragic incident that has taken place today. Indian Supercross Racing League and Mr Salman Khan stand by the Nation United in this tough time. All our condolences and prayers are with the affected families."
Similarly, the trailer launch of ‘Kannappa’, which was slated to take place in Indore on June 13, has also been
cancelled.
The film features an ensemble cast including Akshay Kumar, Vishnu Manchu, Prabhas, and Mohanlal, who were expected to attend the event.
The makers of both events are expected to reschedule the launch to a later date.
The Air India flight bound for London crashed five minutes after take-off from Ahmedabad airport on Thursday afternoon. The aircraft, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, identified as Air India 171, was carrying 242 people, including 230 passengers and 12 crew members.
Visuals from the Meghani area, where the plane went down, showed thick black smoke billowing into the sky. The captain had issued a mayday call to Air Traffic Control moments before the crash.
The aircraft issued a mayday call shortly after departure but lost contact with Air Traffic Control soon after.
