On March 13, the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to his Twitter account and tweeted several Bollywood celebs, requesting them to encourage their fans and followers to go out and excercise their right to vote. Modi tweeted to the likes of Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Johar, Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Anushka Sharma, Varun Dhawan, and several others to encourage their fans and followers and ask them to vote. Salman Khan was also on the list.

“Voting is not only a right but it’s also a duty. Dear @BeingSalmanKhan and @aamir_khan, It is time to inspire and motivate youth in your own Andaz to vote so that we can strengthen Apna Democracy & Apna country,” – Modi’s tweet read.

A week later, Salman Khan has finally replied to the Indian PM with the following tweet: “We are a democracy and it is every Indian's right to vote. I urge every eligible Indian to exercise your right and  participate in making the Government.”

Unlike Salman Khan, most of the Bollywood celebs had already replied to the Indian PM, soon after they were tagged in his tweet. “Yes your totally correct honourable prime minister. Every vote has equal power. Every vote counts. This election day, make your vote count,” Varun Dhawan

had said in his reponse while Bollywood legend Amitabh Bahchcan replied saying: “Every vote is for supremacy of Constitution. Constitution is Holy book of democracy. About 600 million voters of 900 m, less than 35 yrs. Young ask questions about tomorrow not yesterday ! VOTE FOR TOMORROW !”

“A vote is a nation’s voice. A nation’s choice. Use your voice. Make your choice.” – Alia Bhatt wrote in response to Narendra Modi’s request while Ranveer Singh too chimed in saying: “We must all be responsible young citizens of our great democracy and exercise our right to vote. Desh ke naujawaan..Vote karneka waqt aa gaya hai.”

Producer and filmmaker, Karan Johar, assured the Indian PM that the entire Bollywood as a community are dedicated to the cause of creating high voter awareness. “Honourable Prime Minister @narendramodi we as a fraternity are dedicated to the cause of creating high voter awareness and will make sure every endeavour is made to communicate the power of voting for a solid and Democratic INDIA! Jai Hind!” – Karan’s reply to Modi read.

Well, seems like Narendra Modi is getting a lot of support from Bollywood celebs and rightly so. Voting is not only a right and a privilege for us, it is also our duty to cast our vote and fulfill the task.
