Kantara has emerged as one of the most watched and talked about films of 2022. The film earned over Rs 400 crore worldwide and made Rishab Shetty, who has acted in Kantara and directed it, a household name. Apart from making national headlines, the film is also going to try its chances at the biggest award ceremony on the planet - The Academy Awards, or popularly known as the Oscars.

After SS Rajamouli's RRR being submitted at Oscars 2023 in 'For Your Consideration' category, it is now confirmed that Kantara has also



submitted their application for Oscars 2023. In an exclusive chat with IndiaToday.in, Hombale Productions founder Vijay Kirgandur confirmed the same and said that the team is hopeful although they sent in the application at a very last moment.

"We have submitted our application for Oscars for Kantara and have our fingers crossed as the final nominations are yet to come," confirmed Vijay Kirgandur, the founder of Hombale Productions. He mentioned, "Kantara as a story is so rooted that we hope it can find a voice worldwide as well."
