Rishab Shetty's Kantara Chapter 1 event cancelled in Chennai after stampede at Vijay's rally

The makers of ‘Kantara Chapter 1’ announced on Saturday that they had cancelled their Chennai promotional event, scheduled for Sunday, in light of the tragic stampede at TVK chief and actor Vijay’s rally in Karur, Tamil Nadu, which claimed at least 41 lives and left many others injured.

The production house, Hombale Films, issued a statement on social media and extended its support to the families who were affected by the tragedy. “In view of the recent unfortunate incident, we have decided to cancel our Kantara Chapter 1 promotional event scheduled in Chennai tomorrow. We believe this is a time for



reflection and solidarity with those affected. Our deepest condolences and prayers are with the families impacted. We are grateful for your understanding and support, and we look forward to meeting our audience in Tamil Nadu at a more appropriate time (sic),” the statement read.

The caption read, “Due to the recent unfortunate incident, we are cancelling the #KantaraChapter1 promotional event in Chennai tomorrow. Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected. Thank you for your understanding, we look forward to meeting our audience in Tamil Nadu at a more appropriate time (sic).”
