Actor-director Rishab Shetty along with his crew escaped unhurt from a boat accident during the shooting of 'Kantara: Chapter 1.'
The incident occurred at the Mani reservoir in the Masti Katte region of Shivamogga district when a boat capsized on location.
The shallow zone of the reservoir, near an area locally known as Melina Koppa helped in averting any casualties, according to a PTI report.
Although Shetty and his 30 crew members were unharmed, cameras and other filming equipment are believed to have been lost to the water.
The Thirthahalli police, who assessed the accident, are conducting a
probe.
Theatre artist Ramadas Poojary in an interaction with PTI, claimed that making a movie on the spirits of Dakshina Kannada is always risky.
He mentioned that the spirits (Bhootas-Daivas) do not like the commercialisation of any activity connected to them.
However, a local priest stated that Shetty reveres the spirits and was given permission to make the film after conducting elaborate poojas (prayers).
Another crew member quoted by PTI recalled that during the accident the crew members panicked but all of them were safe due to shallow waters.
He said, "It shows that the spirits have blessed us in some way."
