Director Aditya Dhar’s spy action thriller Dhurandhar isn’t just running at the box office, it’s sprinting past records. Led by Ranveer Singh, the film has emerged as the highest-grossing Indian release overseas in 2025, overtaking Rajinikanth’s Coolie in just 17 days.
Fuelled by strong word of mouth, Dhurandhar has collected approximately Rs 186 crore in overseas markets so far, comfortably surpassing Coolie’s lifetime overseas total of Rs 180.50 crore. The feat makes it the biggest Indian blockbuster outside India this year and places it firmly on course to breach the Rs 200 crore overseas milestone, an industry first for Ranveer Singh.
Trade circles had predicted a solid run for the film, but few anticipated its explosive international momentum. As one trade source put it, the industry was “bullish on the film, but didn’t expect it to become this big
internationally.” What began as a promising start quickly snowballed once audience buzz kicked in, particularly across key territories such as North America, the UK and Australia.
The numbers tell a similar story back home. On its third Saturday, Dhurandhar earned Rs 34.25 crore in India, followed by an even stronger Rs 38.5 crore on Sunday. This pushed its domestic total to Rs 555.75 crore, underlining the film’s remarkable staying power with negligible weekend drop-offs.
Globally, the Aditya Dhar directorial has now crossed the Rs 800 crore mark and is inching closer to the lifetime worldwide collection of Kantara: The Legend – Chapter 1, which had earned around Rs 852 crore earlier this year. With its current pace, Dhurandhar is widely expected to overtake that figure and cement its position as the highest-grossing Indian film of 2025 worldwide.
