According to a report by Pinkvilla, Mukerji will play a significant extended cameo in the film, portraying the mother of Suhana Khan’s character. Sources close to the production revealed that her role will serve as a major emotional anchor in the story. "Rani Mukerji and Shah Rukh Khan have worked together on films like 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai', 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham', and 'Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna' among others, and are now all set for a reunion. Rani Mukerji has been cast to play the part of Suhana

Khan’s mother, and it’s a role which acts as a catalyst for the entire action-thriller in the film," the report stated.

This marks a reunion for Mukerji and SRK, who have shared the screen in many iconic Bollywood films. Even though her role in 'King' spans just five days of shooting, the report mentioned that it was an easy yes for the actor. “It was a no-brainer for Rani to say yes to Shah Rukh Khan and Siddharth Anand’s offer for 'King'. She heard the part, and instantly agreed to on board the film. Rani’s track is the heart of 'King', leading to the emotional depth,” the source close to the news portal said.

Earlier, there were several reports saying that Deepika Padukone might play Suhana Khan's mother in the film.
