The much-anticipated biopic on former Indian cricket captain finally has an update. After months of wait, actor Rajkummar Rao confirmed that he will play the cricketing legend on the big screen.
The National Award-winning actor, in an interview with NDTV, said, "Now that Dada has already said it, let me also make it official. Yes, I am playing him in his biopic." He also admitted being nervous about the role, saying, "I am nervous... It's a huge responsibility, but it's
going to be a lot of fun."
The actor further expressed confidence by flaunting his Bengali-speaking skills during the interview, as per the report. Rajkummar has reportedly learnt the language over the years from his actor-wife Patralekhaa, who is a Bengali.
Earlier this year, Ganguly had shared that Rajkummar would play the role, but there were some issues with the dates. He also said that the film might take more than a year to release in theatres.
