Filmmaker Priyadarshan's 100th film, which will feature Mohanlal, is all set to go on floors this year. After announcing the project earlier this March, filmmaker Priyadarshan is now gearing up to begin filming for the much-anticipated film towards the end of December. With several months to go, fresh details about the story are now emerging.
According to sources close to the development, the yet-untitled film will explore a father-son relationship, set in the world of music. Both characters are musicians, and the story follows their journey as creative differences and ego clashes take centre stage.
The source said, “This isn’t just a celebratory project marking Priyadarshan sir’s 100th film, but also a deeply personal story. The emotional graph between the father and son is the heart of the film, and music plays a crucial role.”
The film is expected to blend Priyadarshan’s signature storytelling style with a layered, character-driven narrative. Known for handling comedy and drama with equal ease, the director, this time, has
planned to tell a story that feels more personal, while still tapping into emotions that many will relate to.
“The conflict in the film is very real. It’s about pride, legacy, and the need for validation, themes that resonate across generations. But here, it becomes more layered because both the father and son operate in the same creative space,” the source said.
“The music will not just serve as a backdrop but as a narrative device. Each composition will reflect the characters’ internal conflicts, their disagreements, and their silences,” explained the source.
The Priyadarshan–Mohanlal collaboration has historically delivered several memorable films, making this reunion even more significant.
The source concluded, “Priyadarshan is currently tied up with the promotions of Bhooth Bangla, following which he will move on to another project. The film with Mohanlal is expected to go on floors by the end of December, as both the actor and director are presently committed to their respective schedules.”
