Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday congratulated the team of Manipuri-language film Boong after it won the BAFTA Award for Best Children and Family Film.
Praising the film, the Prime Minister wrote on X, “Congratulations to all those associated with this film. This is indeed a moment of immense joy, especially for Manipur. It also highlights the immense creative talent in our nation.”
Boong scripted history at the 79th edition of the British Academy of Film Awards held in London, emerging as the only
Indian film to win at this year’s ceremony. The film took home the BAFTA for Best Children and Family Film, marking a significant milestone not just for Manipuri cinema but for Indian regional storytelling on the global stage.
The win is being seen as a proud moment for Manipur, a state whose artistic contributions often remain underrepresented in mainstream Indian cinema. The Prime Minister’s message highlighted the cultural importance of the achievement, calling it a celebration of India’s “immense creative talent.”
