Actor and ex-Member of Parliament (MP) Mimi Chakraborty on Tuesday filed a police complaint alleging harassment during a live stage performance in West Bengal. The incident took place when she was performing during a cultural event in the Nayagram area of Bongaon town.

The 36-year-old said in a police complaint that the event organisers stepped on the stage and halted her performance, further asking her to leave the stage. The actor submitted the complaint through an email to the Bongaon police station.

The organisers, however, denied the allegations, alleging that it was in fact Chakraborty's security who misbehaved with them. One of the organisers of the event, identified as

Tanmay Shastri, told the media that Chakraborty came an hour late at the venue and was permitted to perform only until midnight. "Ms Chakraborty was neither insulted nor harassed, and the allegations made by her are completely baseless," Shastri said.

Chakraborty later shared a cryptic note in her Instagram Stories, citing "fake stories." She wrote about people getting offended by true stories. Her note read, "Fake stories give TRP NOT TRUTH. Cheers to everyone who choose and believe TRP Becoz fake is so real, ppl get offended with truth, and artist maligning is the new normal (sic)," followed by folding hand emojis.

A further probe into the case is currently underway.
