Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan set to become first Tamil movie to release in IMAX on Sep 30

Mani Ratnam is gearing up for the release of his latest magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan, slated to open in theatres on September 30. The biggie has garnered a fair deal of attention because of its impressive teaser and a stellar cast. Now, here is an exciting update about Ponniyin Selvan. It is set to become the first Tamil movie to release in IMAX. Ponniyin Selvan is a period drama, produced by Mani Ratnam and Allirajah Subaskaran under the Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions banners,



respectively.

Mani Ratnam, who received praise for his last directorial venture Chekka Chivantha Vaanam, is set to return with Ponniyin Selvan. The pan-India movie is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy's cult novel of the same name. On Tuesday, August 16, Lyca Productions announced that Ponniyin Selvan will be released in IMAX.
