Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan Part 1 to release on September 30, first poster unveiled

The makers of Mani Ratnam’s period drama Ponniyin Selvan have unveiled the first look posters of the film. Set in the 10th century, the film features an ensemble cast which includes Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Trisha, Sarathkumar, Rahman and Aishwarya Lekshmi in lead roles. Ponniyin Selvan Part 1 will hit the screens on September 30.

Touted to be one of the most ambitious projects of Mani Ratnam, Ponniyin Selvan will finally hit the cinemas on September 30. The first look posters of the film featuring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Nandini, Vikram as Aditya Karikalan,



Jayam Ravi as Arulmozhi Varman, Karthi as Vandhiyathevan and Trisha as Kundavai look magnificent.

Ponniyin Selvan is based on the Tamil novel of the same name written by Kalki Krishnamoorthy. It narrates the story of Arulmozhi Varman and the Chola dynasty. Amid political turmoil, the film will show how the Chola dynasty emerged as the most powerful empire. The music of the Ponniyin Selvan has been composed by AR Rahman, while the screenplay has been written by Mani Ratnam, Elango Kumaravel and B Jeyamohan. The period drama is jointly produced by Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies.
