Actors Khushi Kapoor and Karishma Tanna are reportedly set to headline the much-anticipated sequel to the acclaimed film 'Mom', originally starring Sridevi. The project, while inspired by the essence of the 2017 National Award-winning film, is expected to deliver a contemporary story centred around justice and resilience.
The film will aim to build on the original’s legacy by introducing new characters and exploring a modern approach to its underlying themes.
According to a Pinkvilla report, 'Mom 2' will not be a direct continuation of the first film but will instead present a fresh story. The film intends to bring together suspense and high-stakes drama. It will keep its focus on strong female leads and the pursuit of justice in complex situations.
A source close to the portal said, "'Mom 2' is
emotionally layered and a modern, dynamic film, and Karishma Tanna fits well to enhance to film’s theme. Her intense emotional depth aligns with Khushi Kapoor’s refreshing energy, and that chemistry is what makes them a right pair."
The film is produced by Boney Kapoor, who was also behind the original 'Mom'. Direction will be handled by Girish Kohli, known for his writing work on the first film as well as on 'Kesari' and 'HIT: The First Case'.
Boney had previously hinted at his daughter Khushi’s involvement in the project during the 2025 IIFA Awards held in Jaipur. During a media interaction, he reflected on his children’s work and said, "I have watched all of Khushi's films 'Archies', 'Loveyappa', and 'Nadaaniyan'. I am planning a film with her too after 'No Entry Mein Entry'. It could be 'Mom 2'."
