Katy Perry goes Instagram official with Justin Trudeau on Japan trip

Pop star Katy Perry and former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made their relationship public on Saturday, December 6, 2025, as Perry posted a series of personal photos and videos on Instagram. The images, captured during their visit to Japan, show the couple together for the first time on social media. This follows their first public appearance as a couple in October and marks a step in their relationship, which began earlier this year.

Perry, shared snapshots and clips from their trip as part of her ongoing Lifetimes Tour. One image shows Perry and Trudeau, 53, sitting together for a selfie, while a video depicts them eating together and sharing moments at an art exhibit. Perry captioned her Instagram post: "Tokyo times on tour and more (sic)," offering a glimpse into their experience in Japan.

During their stay in Tokyo, Perry and Trudeau visited former Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and his wife, Yuko, on Wednesday, 3 December. Kishida posted a photo on X with the group near a Christmas tree, calling Perry the "partner" of Trudeau. He wrote, "Former Canadian Prime Minister



@JustinTrudeau visited Japan with his partner and joined my wife and me for lunch," in a caption shared in Japanese.

Kishida reflected on his past collaboration with Trudeau, stating: "During his time as prime minister, we met multiple times as fellow leaders, and when I visited Canada, we worked together to strengthen bilateral relations, including formulating the 'Japan-Canada Action Plan.' I am delighted that we continue to maintain this friendship in this way."

Trudeau echoed Kishida's sentiments on social media, writing: "Great to see you @kishida230," and added, "Katy and I were so glad to have the chance to sit down with you and Yuko. Thank you, Fumio, for your friendship and your continued commitment to both the international rules-based order and to a better future for everyone."

Perry and Trudeau reportedly began dating after being seen together in Montreal earlier this summer. Both had recently separated from previous partners, with Perry parting ways with Orlando Bloom in June and Trudeau separating from his wife, Sophie Grgoire, after 18 years of marriage in 2023.
