Actor Vijay Deverakonda’s much-anticipated film 'Kingdom' has been postponed. Originally slated for a summer release on May 30, the film will now hit cinemas on July 4. The makers cited India-Pakistan tensions following the Pahalgam terrorist attack of April 22, and Operation Sindoor - the 'recent unforeseen events in the country' - as reasons for postponing the film.
Actor Vijay Deverakonda shared the update on X, with a note captioned, “#Kingdom, July 04, 2025. Will see you in the cinemas (sic).” In the note, the makers mentioned, “We wish to inform that the release of our film 'Kingdom', originally set for 30 May, has been rescheduled to 4 July.”
Directed by Gautham Tinnanuri, 'Kingdom' is an action film with a premise
presumably set around the refugee crisis borne out of the post-Independence Sinhala-Tamil conflict.
Talking about the reason behind the postponement, the makers mentioned, “We explored every possibility to stick to the original date, but recent unforeseen events in the country and the current atmosphere have made it difficult for us to move forward with promotions or celebrations. We believe this decision will help us present 'Kingdom' in the best possible way, with the creative excellence and spirit it deserves.(Sic)”
The makers further added, “We're grateful to Dil Raju garu and Nithin garu for their understanding and support in making this change possible.” Nithin’s starrer 'Thammudu' was also slated for release on the same date.
