Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali is set to reunite with Diljit Dosanjh for their next project, which will hit theatres in April 2026, aligning with the festival of Baisakhi.

Billed as a “charming tale of love and longing,” the untitled film marks the duo’s second collaboration after their much-acclaimed 2024 release, ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’.

Helping bring Imtiaz Ali’s vision to life is a stellar cast that includes Diljit Dosanjh, Naseeruddin Shah, Vedang Raina, and Sharvari. Set against a contemporary and witty backdrop, the film delves into the complexities of human connection and promises an engaging cinematic journey.

The upcoming project will also reunite the iconic trio, including AR Rahman, Irshad Kamil, and Imtiaz Ali, whose creative

collaboration has previously gifted Indian cinema with some of its most timeless melodies.

Quoting the legendary poet Momin Khan Momin’s couplet, “Tum mere paas hote ho goya, Jab koi doosra nahin hota” (You are with me, however, when there is no one else), Ali said he aims to offer a “touching cinematic experience.”

“Can love really be lost? Can home be taken away from someone’s heart? This film has a big heart. It has a large canvas, yet is very personal. It is a story of a boy and a girl, but also of a country. Wish us well as we dive into the currents of this dynamic story. We hope to emerge next year with a touching cinematic experience in a theatre near you,” Ali said in a statement.

The filming is expected to begin in August this year.
