The Indian Film & Television Directors’ Association (IFTDA) has condemned the firing incident outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty's residence. IFTDA President Ashoke Pandit, in a video also praised the swift action taken by Mumbai Police in connection to the case.
IFTDA, in its letter, wrote, "Sub: FIRING INCIDENT AT THE RESIDENCE OF ACE FILMMAKER MR. ROHIT SHETTY...Indian Film & Television Directors’ Association (IFTDA) strongly condemns the firing incident reported early this morning at the residence of renowned filmmaker, Mr. Rohit Shetty, situated in Juhu (sic)."
The latter further read, "The entire film fraternity is deeply shocked and concerned about the safety and well-being of one of the most respected and iconic filmmaker of the Indian entertainment industry. Such incidents create an atmosphere of fear and insecurity, which is unacceptable. We appeal to our Honourable Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis ji to personally look in to the matter, as this grave incident should not shake the morality and
confidence of the entertainment industry (sic)."
The latter concluded, "We are confident that the efficient Mumbai Police will take swift and strict action, identify and book the culprits at the earliest, and ensure complete protection to Mr. Rohit Shetty and his family. IFTDA stands firmly with Mr. Rohit Shetty and his entire family during this difficult hour and assures them of our full support and solidarity. For Indian Film & Television Directors’ Association...(Ashoke Pandit) Hon. President...(Kuku Kohli) Hon. Secretary General."
According to people present at the scene, four rounds of gunfire were heard outside Shetty's house, after which police and security agencies acted swiftly. Senior officers from the city police, zonal units, and the crime branch reached the location soon after.
Rohit Shetty has cancelled all his plans for the next two days following the recent firing incident at his residence. He has also asked close friends not to visit him for the next 48 hours.
