Singer-turned-actor Diljit Dosanjh has reportedly been replaced in 'Border 2' amid the controversy surrounding his film 'Sardaar Ji 3', which faced backlash for casting Pakistani actor Hania Aamir. A source close to the film told India Today that, given 'Border 2' focusses on the Indian Army, the makers hence felt the actor would not be suitable for the role.
Sources further added that Dosanjh is likely to be replaced by actor Ammy Virk in the upcoming war drama.
However, the makers are yet to confirm the
developments.
“Given 'Border 2' focusses on the Indian Army, the makers felt the Punjabi actor's presence would not be suitable. They also did not want the entire controversy to dilute the film and its promotions. The team will re-shoot the portion that features Diljit soon,” the source said.
The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) President BN Tiwari said that while the makers are yet to officially inform them of Diljit's removal, it’s the only way out. “If the team continues to shoot with Diljit, that would show how they are supporting his cause,” he added.
