Ahead of 'Sholay's' 50th anniversary, actor and politician Hema Malini spoke about her film. Standing outside Parliament, the veteran actor clarified that the film is unlikely to be remade. 'Sholay' will complete 50 years of release on this Independence Day. The film was released on August 15,1975.

The actor, who played Basanti in the film, told ANI, "It feels great. When I started working on 'Sholay', I didn't know that it

would be such a hit...That was a different time...It is difficult to make another 'Sholay' now."

Directed by Ramesh Sippy and written by Salim-Javed, 'Sholay' is regarded as a cult classic.

It received negative critical reviews when it was first released. However, favourable word-of-mouth helped it to become a box office success. It is regarded as one of the most influential Indian films of all time.
